dr. reich
Dr Larry Reich was born in Edmonton, Alberta and raised in Northern British Columbia and Calgary. He is a family man joined by his wife Cheryl, daughter Sasha, and young son Maxim. He attended the University of Alberta from 1979 to 1989, attaining degrees in Biology specializing in Genetics and subsequently a Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
Upon Graduation, Dr. Reich, as part of the Registered Officer Training Program, was commissioned into the Armed Forces Dental Corporation as a Captain. During his first year he worked at NORAD Headquarters in North Bay, Ontario where he showed drive and determination and was rewarded with his own command. He served from 1990-1992 as Detachment Commander in Dental Camp Wainwright. The military training allowed him to undertake two advanced professional training courses: Oral Surgery (Extractions) and Periodontics (Gum Grafts and Oral Surgery).
Dr. Reich purchased his practice in 1992 from Dr. Don Hauck after working with him as an evening time associate for 2 years. Recently Dr. Reich has transformed the original dental building into a state of the art dental office which included a brand new rock exterior and the interior equipped with massaging dental chairs and satellite TV’s in all operatories, as well as flat screen TV, Play station 3, Wi-Fi, and an Apple Computer in the waiting area. We have the best and the newest cutting edge technology in all aspects of dentistry; from the building exterior to the dental tools and operatory accessories.
During the last 20 years of service to the Wainwright community Dr. Reich has constantly strived to improve his professional skill set, attending the following courses:
- Cerec – CAD CAM (Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing in Dentistry) in 2009. This has been an enormous asset to our office as with this cutting edge technology Dr. Reich has the capacity to prepare, design, mill, stain, kiln fire and manufacture you crown from start to finish in just one appointment and within two hours. With over 900 crowns finished to date this addition to our office has been a huge success! Patients love no impressions and no temporary crowns; the Cerec crowns look amazing.
- CTC Lasers in Kamloops BC in 2011, certified training in Biolaze Water Lasers. This is our newest advancement and this is a game-changer! Ever wondered…”would it not be nice if I didn’t HAVE to get that needle?”… Wonder no more! In June 2011 Dr. Reich will take delivery on a hard tissue cutting laser “Biolase MD Turbo”, which can cut larger fillings without needles and not be painful. This laser also has applications for children, root canals, and cleanings.
- Endodontic “Root Camp”, at St. Thomas Virgin Islands 1996 This course involved root canal therapy which has helped Dr. Reich complete many thousand successful root canals.
- Endodontics – U of San Francisco in Maui, Hawaii in 2011. With both these root canal courses Dr. Reich now employs technologies most often seen in the offices of endodontic specialists.
- Advanced Anesthetic Injection Techniques at the U of A. This course involved doctors freezing themselves up as they practiced on each other. Perhaps Dr. Reich’s least favorite course but proved very helpful for patients that are difficult to freeze. Just ask us for “The Wand” at your next visit if you want freezing without the old style needle! This method has proved to be a winner with kids and even adults too!
- Advanced Adhesion Dentistry in Maui, Hawaii. This course keeps Dr. Reich up to date on the latest technological advances in filling material and bonding concepts.
- Canadian Straight Wire Orthodontics in Calgary, Alberta 1990-2000. This was a 600 hour course which gave Dr. Reich the accreditation to provide standard braces and to date many hundreds of finished cases.
- Invisalign (Wireless, Invisible Braces) in Calgary, Alberta in 2005 as well as the Advanced Course in 2009. To date based on completed cases, Dr. Reich is a “Preferred Invisalign Provider”
- Implant Course in Banff, Alberta in 2003 and 2005. Dr. Reich offers the option of dental implants to replace missing teeth as well as hold dentures tightly in place.
- Nitrous Oxide and Sedation Dentistry at NAIT in 2009
- CAMBRA in Maui, Hawaii in 2010. This was a symposium on assessing “risks” for development of cavities with its aim to prevent and/or retard the development if future cavities as well to assess and reverse the early signs of tooth decay in re-mineralization.
- Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Prosthetic Dentistry which included specific training for:
2. Posterior ( Back) Crowns
3. Neuromuscular Dentistry
4. Full Mouth Reconstruction
“You see, like my work, I constantly strive to advance, evolve, and improve as dentistry is a challenging profession. Clearly, I am a much better dentist now than when I was a new graduate and I look forward to seeing how far I can progress. Wainwright has been good to me so I strive to be good to the people of Wainwright by bringing the very best technologies modern dentistry has to offer. I am proud to bring cutting edge technology to a small town clinic.” Larry Reich
